Septembre

I'm back! In a burst of thought, I thought a thought of reviving this corner of mine in the interwebz.

That's how the past month that was is spelled in the land of Chanel, Hermes and Vuitton.

Oh oui the French! This month I think is my French-est to date.

It all started when I met my high school friend who for years have been studying the language in Alliance Francaise. Let's call him Pluie. For our catch-up, Pluie had invited another high school classmate, who we'll name here as Ballerine, who during our chikatime I learned is also studying French via the famous app Duo Lingo. (I am into Duo Lingo as well but I am learning to speak Spanish.)

As agreed upon, the following night we would watch movies. We intended to just watch one or two for the evening before we go for a night life. But so rainy that night that I got late to meet them up at P's house. I arrived with Ballerine viewing the latest from filmmaker Lar's von Trier. We agreed to stay in for the whole night and I requested we catch something else first. We saw Scarlett Johansson in art-house film Under Her Skin and then went back to the film with in it is the quintessential French lady Charlotte Gainsbourg.

We finished the CG-starrer two-part film Nymph()maniac: Volume I and II.

I was also able to finish downloadingThe Dreamers which I watched upon settling in bed at home by 6 AM. Louis Garell!

Last week I saw Yves Saint Laurent, portraying the titular role is the convincingly-proficient Pierre Niney.
Based on a biography by Laurence Benaïm, the storyline depicts the influential (and to this millennial’s surprise, troubled) designer’s trajectory, which is largely influenced by his longtime professional and personal partner, loosely this film’s Grace Coddington to Anna Wintour in The September Issue.
(The second film about the designer, Saint Laurent, recently premiered in Paris. On its cast are Gaspard Ulliel and Louis Garell(!).)

I want this book rn.
How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are, $11

Co-authored by chica Chanel ambassodor Caroline de Maigret with her BFF's, the book dishes advices on how to embody a Paree-born person. Example: one reads, “Always be fuckable: when standing in line at the bakery on a Sunday morning, buying champagne in the middle of the night, or even picking up the kids from school. You never know.”

On the side of stalking of designing Frenchmen, while I am still onto Nicolas Ghesquiere's highly-valuable work at Vuitton and his adorability, and Style.com-ing what Guillaume Henry who has left his post for restored brand Carven, wore when taking a bow, early this week I caught myself perusing the Instagram of charming Simon Porte (who is as young as me) of Jacquemus label.
More than glimpses of his design work, his IG shows his out-of-town trips and at times his choice of gratuitous skimpy swimwear.

Just the shot I need for my upcoming Boracay trip with friends.

Sock on a Cock Rocks!

There's an awareness campaign for  testicular and prostate cancer involving guys putting socks on their penises (hence, #cockinasock a la the guys of Red Hot Chili Peppers),

taking a (almost-naked like wee baby) selfie and posting the pic on any/all of the holy trinity of photo-sharing social media (you know, le T.I.F.).

Since it's graduation season, it is in order to give this charity-should-be-fun movement the following citations:

Best Hashtag

and Best Awareness Campaign to exist in the history of hashtags and awareness campaigns.
